The End Of The Survey

Below is an email I received last month from No Kid Hungry. Please go thru all the images (along with my thoughts) until the end. Then please return to today’s Email 366 tip and answer my question. Thanks!

The email opens with this:

asking people to help prepare a lunch for a hungry child

I like the image! Captures attention and makes me want to read on.

asking readers to share a note with a child is a good idea

Asking subscribers to share a note of encouragement with a child is a good idea! I’d click thru to share a note. Here’s what you see on the landing page once you click the CTA button:

Giving people the option to pack the lunch they want to gift a child? Great!

Having it done via a questionnaire? Great!

I like the “complete” bar in the upper right. It allows people to know how long more this will take (or how much they’ve finished). This is a good idea for people who are impatient and wanna move on to something else.

Gotta have dessert! And now for the important stuff- the stuff that connects donors and supporters to the people they are helping and impacting through your organization.

The personalized response should be available in these types of questionnaires/fill ins. Let people say what they wanna say in their own words.

Notice that in the upper right hand, it says I’m only 50% done. Which might make people ask: How much more is left and what content? I packed a lunch and shared a note, which was the CTA in the email. What’s left to do? Click the “next” button and this appears:

I’m not sure I agree with using this activity to also fundraise. Why not let people pack a meal, add a note and that’s it? Let them feel good about what they’ve done. The next time you ask they’ll remember that good feeling. But instead, No Kid Hungry asks for a donation at the end of this. You’ll notice I clicked “No, I can’t make a donation today.” (If I click the other two options, it takes you to their online donation form.)

When I click the “next” button I get this:

They ask again and there’s no option to say “no.” Either of the listed options takes you to their online donation form.

One thing I’m unsure about: Nowhere do I get a message that the meal I chose and the note I sent have been received and will be delivered. I assume that’s only done once I submit a donation (but I can’t be 100% sure because I didn’t submit a donation).

Please now return to today’s Email 366 for a question about the above email and survey.
