“How many articles should we include in our enewsletters?”
I get asked this question a lot.
Here’s some things to take into consideration:
- The average email read rate is only 9 seconds
- People skim and scan emails
- Subscribers will not doomscroll
That should already indicate that a content dump of everything going on into one very long email isn’t a good idea.
In this week’s SEND, I review an enewsletter which is way too long. Watch and I’ll answer what I think is the sweet spot for number of articles in an email update to your audience.
Additionally, I explain why longer emails will bring FEWER clicks. Just the opposite of what you want.
Which leads to: “What do we do with all the other posts, articles etc. we want to share with subscribers?”
My response: Send more emails than just once a quarter or month!
